Norton finds "Spyware.CheatMonitor" in Install Files

I often keep old install files on my computer, and today Norton detected "Spyware.CheatMonitor" coming from the compressed install EXE and the EXE inside of it.  Just plain weird.

I'm hoping for a new install/registration with the next version of this program.  I still have problems with it realizing it's a registered product every now and then, and it absolutely doesn't realize it when hooked on my work VPN.

UPDATED: This time during it's regular weekly scan, the scanner found the actual program.  I thought it was just the install files showing up like before, so I deleted it just to get rid of the annoyance.

Will reinstalling the program restore it or do I need to re-register with that company? Help!

That must be a "false positive" on the spyware report... or the install file has been compromised.

I definately don't bundle any software (spyware or not) with the game.

You should be able to redownload the executable from http://www.BoltBait.com and install.  Just use the same serial number you received before.  And, if that doesn't work, contact Protexis http://www.protexis.com/support/support.htm and they'll get you going.

Are you sure Protextis is still supporting this?  Emailed on Tuesday and received an auto-reply that it was received immediately.  Received nothing since.

UPDATED: One week later, left message on their "support mailbox."

UPDATED AGAIN: Another week later, I'm Protexis doesn't support your product anymore.  No response by email or return of phone message left.

When you update this product next I would appreciate a working copy in exchange for the copy I paid for, had problems keeping activated, and now doesn't work at all.  Very disappointing.  I'll keep checking back for updates.

Support request sent to them September 9, 2008.  Support response sent to me October 30, 2008. Less than satisfying after all that time.

    Wow.  OK, that sucks.

I see that Protexis has been dropped by Download.com too.  I'll be watching Download.com to see what company they choose for a replacement.  When that happens, I will switch over and make sure that all of the registered users have working copies of the new build.

I'm not sure how long this will take, so don't hold your breath.  But, be assured, I will take care of you.
